As part of a unique collaboration between Sea Grant and the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, we are hosting a series of regional workshops to showcase and receive input on a range of tools useful for aquaculture and mariculture siting and sustainability.
This workshop aims to emphasize NCCOS tools currently being used to identify offshore sites and additionally connect with activities in state waters. As a session of the 2025 Mariculture Conference of Alaska, this workshop will focus discussions on critical issues surrounding mariculture siting along with short introductory presentations to outline the problems and key geospatial tools. In discussion sessions, participants will begin to list priorities, data gaps, multi-user conflicts, and potential uses or adaptations of NCCOS developed resources to help stakeholders advance mariculture siting. The identified priorities will be outlined post-workshop in a region-specific roadmap.
All participants will be provided with a briefing book of materials.
A workshop summary will be posted shortly after the conclusion of the workshop.
